Exercise Khaan Quest closes at Five Hills Training Center

FIVE HILLS TRAINING CENTER, Mongolia – The multinational peace support operations training exercise Khaan Quest 07 drew to a close here today.
 
The exercise increased the peacekeeping abilities of more than 1,000 participating multinational service members, as well as improved the mission effectiveness, interoperability and unity of effort in peacekeeping operations.

Mongolian Armed Forces, U. S. Army engineers complete children’s wing renovations

ULAANBAATAR, Mongolia (Aug. 15, 2007) – The bleak sky didn’t blot out the beaming faces of 11 Mongolian Armed Forces soldiers and 11 U. S. Army soldiers who saw their efforts come to a crescendo during a dedication ceremony here today.
 
The ribbon cutting ceremony marked the opening of a newly renovated wing in the State Research Center of Maternal and Child Health.

Command post exercise draws to a close

ULAANBAATAR, Mongolia – Approximately 120 officers from 19 countries bid adieu to each other and the command post exercise which brought them together here.
 
This training evolution simulated establishing a United Nations force headquarters in a deployed location in response to a regional peace operation and included both classroom-type briefings as well as practical application.

Mongolian Armed Forces team up with U.S. Army engineers to rebuild children’s hospital wing

ULAANBAATAR, Mongolia – A sick child can be trying on both the mind and the heart. That weight can be greatly increased when the child is afflicted with a neurological disorder such as epilepsy, cerebral palsy, or muscular dystrophy; and imagine the hardship when the only hospital in the country capable of treating these disorders is completely dilapidated.
 
Fortunately for the children of Mongolia, a wing of the State Research Center of Maternal and Child Health is getting a complete makeover at the hands of Mongolian Armed Forces engineers and United States soldiers from the 389th Engineer Battalion.

Khaan Quest proves value to present and future peacekeepers

FIVE HILLS TRAINING CENTER, Mongolia – When the Mongolian Armed Forces entered Iraq in 2003, it was the first time the Mongolian military had been in the country since the middle of the 13th century.
Even historians disagree on number of those killed in 1258 when the grandson of Chinggis Khaan leveled Baghdad. Figures range between 80,000 to 800,000.  That battle ended the city's claim to fame as the largest city in the Arab world.
