APAN has demonstrated that it is the optimum collaboration mechanism in response to major disasters and humanitarian operations where civil-military coordination is required.  APAN's HA/DR portals are used by government officials, military planners, and non-governmental organizations to coordinate relief efforts.

APAN's features that facilitate efficient crisis response coordination include: easy to use document exchange, Request for Information tool, photo and video gallery, real-time chat, video and whiteboard, and a multi-tiered security system (information can be made available to the general public or hidden from other groups as necessary).
